The numbers are staggering. For the past three years the unemployment rate has hovered between 8.5 and 10 percent leaving millions of Americans out of work. Most of those unemployed aren’t looking for a handout or a free ride. Being out of a job was not their choice; it was forced on them. These are hard working people who want to work, want to earn a living and provide for their families but find themselves out of a job and unable to find work.
The ramifications of unemployment are far-reaching and very troubling. Countless families across the country are losing their home or going to bed 
worried about putting food on the table. These are real problems for millions of Americans and it breaks my heart to see their suffering. Even more so because I know it doesn’t have to be this way. There is an answer to their problems. There is a way for struggling families to not only find relief from their financial troubles but be free of them forever. That answer is network marketing.
Let’s face it; the “real world” is not cutting it. We’ve seen the economy hit bottom and yo-yo back and forth for years. It’s unstable at best and people are placing their livelihood in an economy and in companies that they have no control over. There is no more job security, unless that job is working for yourself. With network marketing, you have complete control of your future and you create your own job security.
I’ve been in network marketing for more than 20 years and I know it works. I’ve experienced it myself and seen its success in others. It wasn’t a down economy or a lost job that pushed me into this industry but I’m thankful this is the path I chose and I believe everyone should consider it.
Age or socio-economic status is irrelevant; network marketing can providefinancial stability for everyone. Instead of working as a nameless face in a company for 15, 20, even 30 years only to get a “pink slip,” network marketing allows you to control your destiny and invest that time and energy in yourself. Being 46 and having made millions, I know that more people need to be taking advantage of this opportunity, especially with today’s uncertain economy.
My own success story
My first network marketing experience was actually working with my brother and I’ve learned a lot since then about how to create success in this industry and what to look for in a network marketing company. After all, I should know, I’ve worked in three different companies.
I rose to the top of the first company with my brother but saw that out ofthousands of people on my team, only a handful were making any real money. I felt like I was making money off of people instead of with them. I quit that company, and actually went into traditional business but I missed networking. So I joined another company and rose to the top again only to experience the same thing, most of my team could not duplicate my success. I discovered the odds were stacked against the average person succeeding. So I prayed a simple prayer, “God help me, help these people.” That’s it. The next day, I knew I had to start my own company and GBG was born.
During those early days in my career I learned network marketing is the answer to financial security but not all network marketing companies are created equally. Most companies don’t understand that without the distributors, the company has nothing. That’s why I started GBG – as a network marketer; to create a place where network marketers knew they were safe to build a business without fear of having their income taken away.
Millions of stressed out Americans who are either unemployed or financially strained can reach financial independence with network marketing but it’s imperative to choose the right company. The three most important things to look for in a network marketing company are:
1. Quality consumable products at affordable prices – products that people want to buy continuously whether there’s a business opportunity attached to them or not.
2. A pay plan where anyone can truly succeed – from the average part-time networker to the full-time “heavy hitter;” a pay plan where the majority of the money generated by sales is paid to the people who are making the sale, and…
3. Owners who truly understand that the distributors are the most important piece of the puzzle – without them there is no company.
When those three elements come together, it’s a perfect recipe for success.
Work it like a business The other thing to remember is network marketing is work. Perhaps the biggest misconception in the industry is that you don’t have to do anything tosucceed. If you treat it like a hobby, it will pay you like a hobby. But if you treat it like a business, it’ll pay you like a business. As our top distributor, Michael Kahn often says, “Treat it like a million-dollar business and it’ll pay you millions of dollars!”
Stay focused and don’t give up. Those that are the most successful in network marketing tend to do the most productive thing at any given moment. Most people quit right before they would have made it to success. The simple difference between a winner and a loser is the winner just kept going.
These are tough times for people and many are praying for an answer. Maybe they are tirelessly applying for jobs and praying for a call saying they’re hired. Maybe they are praying for a political leader who can turn around the economy. These may be important but the real answer to their prayers lies in network marketing. Network marketing is the answer and wave of the future – it’s already huge in other countries and growing daily here in America.
When it comes to business, I truly believe that we have to take responsibility for our own success. It’s almost become a cliché to describe network marketing by saying, “There’s no employees, no payroll, no inventory to stock, no overhead, and no capped income,” but the reality is – these are all true statements! When you compare this to traditional business – there’s really no comparison. If you don’t take control of your finances, who will?
I choose to invest in myself – and others. I choose network marketing. And I recommend the same thing to anyone who asks.
